  3. Check for Dryness: To know if your food is fully dehydrated, you must check for dryness. This can be done by touching the food or breaking it apart to see if it's dried. If it's still moist, it needs more time in the dehydrator.

  4. Conditioning: Once dehydrated, food should be placed in an airtight container for 4-5 days and shaken daily to ensure foods do not stick to the jars. If food sticks, the food is not dry enough to store. Be sure to follow drying instructions when dehydrating.

If your dehydrated food is successful, it should most often be dry and brittle to the touch. Fruits should be leathery, and vegetables should be crisp. There should be no signs of moisture or softness. If you're unsure if your food is fully dehydrated, store it in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for a few days to see if any moisture appears.
